Are all Yaoi novels on this site really that good? I noticed it for a while now. All Yaoi-related novels on this site always have a rating of 4 or higher. Always, without any exception. It really makes me wonder. You know, many styles of novels contain good and bad writing, some novels are so good, and some novels are terrible. NO matter what style this is always the case, such as system novels, rebirth novels, romantic novels, etc. However, there seem to be exceptions, all yaoi novels always have a very high rating. I don't see one rating below 4 yet. This really makes me wonder, are all yaoi authors really that good? No one messes up? Does no one write a bad yaoi style?

Not at all, there are terrible and mediocre ones as well. The problem is, that there are a lot of trolls giving bad ratings just because it's yaoi, so a lot of yaoi fans vote higher than they normally would just to balance it. Personally I don't do it, since it's a futile battle and will only make the trolls enjoy it more. On top of that is, that a lot of people who come here especially for yaoi wait rather long for something new and interesting, so I guess there're just more votes? I'm really not a 100% sure. I choose my stuff by trying to read instead of ratings or I go to NU to look at real reviews.
Maybe it's also bc bl readers read only the type they like? (I also only read bl/bg novels with transmigration, apocalypse or/and interstellar. So I can't/don't rate some yaoi novels I wouldn't like) (And, yes, I tend to rate honestly, explaining my rating, so you could use those with more text as references?)
So far most of the yaoi novels i found in this website was good. There are some bad writtings too. And its sometimes very confusing bc it is machine translated. But its ok.😁😁
I read BL/yaoi a lot but there's also quite a lot of them that has a high rating but just isn't my cup of tea
just like yuzuyo said, some BL readers rated the novel highly just to compensate for the bad rating from BL haters. not all are like that but surely there are some. I personally rate the stories I read highly, because I like them. Of course not all stories BL I like. usually if I don't like it I just don't continue reading it. It's rare to read to the end and leave a rating. Maybe some people like me, choose not to continue reading when you feel unsatisfied. Some people may also have read it elsewhere, so they only look for what they are interested in and rate highly.

Yeah so ima just jump on this, I feel that except for trying to balance out the ratings, another commenter here should be highlighted. They essentially said that people tend to read what they like and ignore what they dont. Thus they highly rate what they like and dont rate what they dont, or rarely rate slowly and just move on to another book.
There are many reasons involved in this. First of all, many yaoi haters like to brainlessly low-rate yaoi novels, so yaoi lovers rate it high to offset with the unreasonable rating. Second, a lot of yaoi readers are adults with rational thinking, they read what they like, they ignore what they don't like, no toxicity, no brainless moment, so you can expect high ratings when the novels are their taste. Third, not all yaoi novels are good, there are the bad ones on this site too. Fourth, there are more good yaoi novels than bad. Reason? All novels are requested, not randomly uploaded, so the probability of having the good ones chosen are higher because it's common to love good novels, right? Fifth, yaoi novels have more creativity than straight novels, this is not nonsense, it's based on my experience, fyi I've been reading novels for almost 10 years now (both straight and yaoi), and I've been a novelist myself for over 5 years and has had experienced translating several Chinese BL a while back then, I've met many peers and I dare to say that yaoi novels are more creative than straight novels.(NOTE: I'm only talking about romance genre, not all genres in general.) There are more reasons to ponder on, too.
